SRK advised surgery

Shah Rukh Khan’s shoulder injury has worsened. Doctors have asked him to get operated
On January 3, 2009, Mumbai Mirror broke the news that Shah Rukh Khan’s shoulder injury had aggravated, and the actor was in immense pain while he was shooting for Karan Johar’s My Name is Khan in Los Angeles. The latest is that Shah Rukh will have to undergo a surgery on his left shoulder if he wants to perform action scenes in the future.Doctors in LA told SRK that he needs a surgery when he had gone for an MRI. On returning to India, Shah Rukh met shoulder specialist Dr Sanjay Desai for a second opinion on Sunday. Dr Desai too told Shah Rukh that he will have to get a surgery done.Physiotherapist Dr Ali Irani, who is treating Shah Rukh, confirmed the news and said, “Shah Rukh needs a surgery on his left shoulder. We knew this even before he went to LA. Now, he has to decide whether he wants to get operated in India or abroad. He has an option of getting operated in Mumbai, LA or London.” “According to Dr Ali Irani, supraspinatus tear is a condition where the rotator cuff tears causing inflammation and pain. This leads to restriction in movement of the shoulder. Once his surgery is complete, Shah Rukh will need at least four months to get back to his hectic lifestyle. “Once the operation is done, the patient can go home after 12 hours. However, it may take anything from 6 weeks to 6 months for the patient to get completely okay,” said Dr Irani. After surgery, SRK’s hand will have to be in a sling for a few days and he will also have to undergo physiotherapy.Explaining the problem in Shah Rukh’s shoulder, Dr Irani said, “Since 2003, Shah Rukh has had partial supraspinatus tear of the left shoulder. Unfortunately, while performing a stunt for Dulha Mil Gaya, SRK further injured his shoulder.”
Dr Ali IraniIs there no other cure except surgery? Dr Irani said, “Yes, there is a cure. Even if you and I have this problem, we may not need surgery if we are not going to jump around or play cricket or do a fight scene. But Shah Rukh wants do everything, which is why he needs surgery. Moreover, he has an action film coming up after six months. But it’s not an emergency case. It will be a planned surgery.”“Many cricketers like Anil Kumble, Javagal Srinath, Srinath and Venkatesh Prasad had this problem and they got operated. Football players and tennis players too are susceptible to this condition,” added Dr Irani.
