Toronto, Dec 18 – Bollywood star Akshay Kumar announced here Thursday that he would make a cross-cultural film on Canada with ice hockey as the theme

MUMBAI (Reuters) - Actor Aamir Khan has resigned from a panel formed by the government to discuss amendments to the Copyright Act, saying he was "disillusioned and sad" by media reports which he claimed showed him in a bad light.
Two Mumbai tabloids reported on Tuesday Khan and writer Javed Akhtar had a heated altercation during a meeting of the committee formed by Human Resource Development Minister Kapil Sibal.
The Mumbai Mirror reported that Akhtar took exception to Khan's suggestion that lyricists do not make much of a contribution to the impact of a song. Khan said the news reports were false.
"I feel I have a lot to contribute to the ongoing debate but I cannot make any meaningful contribution in this atmosphere," the 44-year-old actor said in a letter to Sibal, a copy of which was circulated to the media.
"Aggression of this type leaves me feeling very disillusioned and sad and I am unable to function."
Khan, Akhtar and filmmaker Ramesh Sippy were among those named members of the committee, according to an official release on Sunday.
The release quoted Sibal as saying the existing situation in the film industry did not do justice to lyricists and music composers and amendments would ensure that authors will not be able to assign intellectual rights to the film producer.
Writers in Bollywood have for long been a neglected lot and even though The Film Writers Association of India is coming up with a model contract to ensure writers get a fair deal, producers don't seem to take it seriously.

'My old films embarrass me'

Bollywood superstar Aamir Khan talks of his family being against his entering films, how he has no plans to shake ‘King Khan’ from his pedestal,
Aamir Khan. More Picsvisiting cinema halls to catch audience reaction and more. Below is the transcript of the interview on CNN’s Talk Asia. Your most recent film Ghajini is now the biggest Bollywood success ever. Did you have any idea that it would be quite as huge as it is? Aamir Khan (AK): You can hope that, you can hope that for all of your films. But you can never really tell until you see the film with the audience, how it’s going to play with the audience in the theatre. So I think in Ghajini what we set out to make we were in fact able to achieve that. I realised that I’m making a hardcore mainstream film after really long, which is fine. I guess I’m happy to do that. After this movie made it so big, people said that you were the real “King Khan”. And that you’d kicked off Shah Rukh off his perch because he appeals to the masses but you’ve managed to do this thing that loads of actors would love to do. In that you’ve had both critical and commercial success in spades. How do you do that? How do you stop from being pigeon-holed in one box or another? AK: Well, you know I just do work which excites me and which I enjoy doing. I just do work which makes me happy. And I have absolutely no intentions of kicking Shah Rukh off his pedestal. Though I have to say I don’t think he ever was on it. But in my opinion the actor who I really look up to is Mr Amitabh Bachchan. He is someone who’s work I really like and he’s a fantastic actor and the kind of stardom that Mr Bachchan has seen none of us can ever hope to see. So for me he’s the guy. Arguably one of the most talked about aspects of Ghajini was your physique; let’s have a quick look at how you got quite so buff. Good lord, I hope that doesn’t bring back too many painful memories for you, I mean were there not days you just went “oh for a goodness sake no movie is worth this hell?!” AK: It was tough, it was really tough, and actually there’s a joke in my family and friends, when you want to get Aamir to do something, make a movie around it and he’ll end up doing it. So, I never thought I would ever train, it’s not something I’m into, but when I had to do it for the film I just went all out, did the best I could. It was really painful and it was really tough and when I look at myself... like the other day, I was looking at the photographs, you know, how it began and then I couldn’t believe it, I just couldn’t believe. So when I think about it now, it just seems like a distant dream, because in the last eight months I haven’t trained, because for the new film that I’m doing, my director looked at my physique and said now I want you to lose all of this. So I had to work towards losing it all for the new film that I’m shooting for. You’re not only a major actor but you also had your directorial debut in Taare Zameen Par. What was it like for you switching to the other side of the camera, at the same time obviously and starring in it? AK: It was tough, mainly because I wasn’t meant to direct the film to begin with. So I kind of jumped in a week into the shoot. I just went with my gut. Actually, I didn’t even have time to think, quite honestly. And now when I look back I realize that I had reached a point in my career where I had been wanting to direct a film for really long, and the pressure kept keeping me away from it. The fact that it happened this way didn’t give me a chance to think and decide, you know. I just jumped into it because I had to, and I ended up making the film, you know, to the best of my abilities. So I didn’t really, you know maybe if I hadn’t done that I wouldn’t be directing for the next 10 years more, I don’t know. So I guess I’m glad it happened finally because I’m happy with the way the film turned out and I’m happy with the way the kind of impact it had on people.

Imran Khan: My mamu is the best

With the success of Ghajini, the whole nation is chanting that Aamir is the best, meanwhile nephew Imran Khan is happy proclaiming that his Mamu is the best.
He says, “I think maamu [Aamir Khan] has done it yet again. He has given such a big hit, I guess it’s the biggest hit in the industry, there is nothing left to say about it. It is very clear he the best actor and the biggest star of the country.”
However unlike his Mamu, Imran is open to award functions and says, “I already got one award on Sabse Favourite Kaun. Actually, Aamir maamu ka zaara panga hai award functionwalo ke saath so I thought mujhe koi awards nahin milenge; but I got one. I will definitely attend award functions if they call me and if I’m free.”

'SRK has lost his sense of humour'

Two days away from his 44th birthday, Aamir Khan
has a new resolution: The star who was recently anointed this year’s most powerful man in

takes a pot-shot at him, he will respond in kind. With barbs from SRK accumulating, Aamir decides to bare his soul and his fangs in an exclusive interview to this newspaper. "I remember him (Shah Rukh) saying that he was joking about calling himself No 1. I find it very funny as I have never seen anyone proclaiming themselves as No 1. Not Sachin Tendulkar, Not Lata Mangeshkar, not Vishwanathan Anand. I am saying all this in a lighter vein too. But Shah Rukh’s sense of humour suddenly disappears when it comes to me." At another point in the hour-long interview, Aamir observes that because his recent films have not been doing well at the box office, Shah Rukh Khan seems to have become an embittered man. With this new front opening, the battlelines in Bollywood have just been redrawn. Never one to take things lying down, fiesty Shah Rukh Khan will soon be jousting for supremacy. Watch this space. I would not want anyone’s film to flop Acouple of days before his 44th birthday, the usually reticent Aamir Khan decides to bare his soul with scathing replies to all the potshots that his closest rival Shah Rukh Khan has been taking at him. Has the evergrowing chasm between the two giants become insurmountable? • What do you think about the recent Filmfare poll, according to which you are now the most powerful man in the industry? I am happy that they have liked and acknowledged my work but honestly speaking, I am not really interested in power. I think it's important to know what one can really do with the power. According to me, power is how one uses it. I can be very powerful but if I can't use it for any good or can't contribute to the industry then I am actually powerless. I would like to use my power by working with new directors, giving new actors to the industry and making experimental films. • Don't you think the success of Taare Zameen Par, Ghajini and the opening collections of Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na, which interestingly you didn't even star in, has made you even more powerful? Could be. Ghajini has gone on to become the biggest success of Indian cinema. The collection has already crossed Rs 270 crore. The three films that I have produced (Lagaan, Taare Zameen Par and Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na) have all been super hits. Even as an actor, my strike rate has been quite good. Since 2000, all my films have worked except Mangal Pandey. Being a creative person, I want my work to be done and want people to love me for my work. To attain that, I don't want to do anything that's underhand. Neither do I want to influence or manipulate the media. After genuinely doing good work consistently, it is for people to decide if they like you or not. Once you strike a relationship with the audience through your work, numbers become unimportant. No one can change that. • You were called the marketing king when ushers sported the Ghajini look during the screening of Shah Rukh Khan's Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi. It was a good marketing gimmick. I think promoting a film with another films is the best way as you really get to know your target audience. Usually, people promote their film in a multiplex through promos or posters but when people walked into multiplexes and saw 50 Ghajinis around them especially with the film just two weeks away from release, it created a buzz. That it was done during Rab Ne... helped. • But it also created a war of words between you and SRK. I have been working in the industry for over two decades and I have never made any comments about anybody. However, over the years I noticed that Shah Rukh has been repeatedly talking about me publicly. In all fairness, I too decided not to remain quiet and respond to him publicly. • In his recent interviews, Shah Rukh sounds bitter about you. For instance, he has said that his kids will never be your fans or that his dog refuses to be called Aamir. Let me say one thing clearly, no matter what Shah Rukh tells his children, I will tell my kids to always love and respect him. What he teaches his children is entirely up to him. I can understand that he is bitter as his films have not done well. I have only have warm regards for him and wish him all the very best. I do understand that Shah Rukh works very hard and gives a number of interviews, which I think is a wonderful quality. I think he is upset as his films have not done as well as he expected them to but I wish him all the success he deserves. • Now that you have dethroned him in the power list, will there be another war of words between the two of you? I am least interested in dethroning him. He can be very happy with all the thrones and all the crowns. I am not interested in any of them. He has never hesitated in making fun of me. Even in his films he has made fun of Manoj Kumar and Dev Anand. It shows that he has a great sense of humour but where does it all go when I say humorous things about him? I remember him saying in one of his interviews that he was joking about calling himself No.1. I find it very funny as I have never seen anyone proclaiming, 'I am No.1'. Neither did Sachin Tendulkar ever say that he is No 1 nor did Lata Mangeshkar. Take any field for that matter, Vishwanathan Anand never says that he is the best and I don't think Dilip Kumar or Raj Kapoor ever said that. I am saying all this in a lighter vein so he too should take my comments lightly. I think that his sense of humour suddenly disappears when it comes to me. • Ever since the fight between Shah Rukh and Salman happened, everyone wants to know whose friend you are? I find this very funny. I am quite friendly with Anil Kapoor, Rani Mukerjee, Shah Rukh and Salman. Akshay (Kumar) and Saif (Ali Khan) too are my friends. I have so many friends. I meet all of them once in a while and there is nothing more to it than that. • You and Salman seem to be bonding more these days. Not really. It has always been like this and it all depends on who is free and when. We have impromptu meetings. There is no ulterior motive when we meet and there is no point for anybody to get paranoid. Come what may, I would not want anyone's film to flop. I am this industry's child. My father has been a producer and my uncle has been a director. There are so many people involved in the making of a film and how it fares affects everyone be it the director, unit members, exhibitors and even ushers in the theatres. I want everyone's film to do well, and our meetings are not about discussing anyone's failure or success. • There are also reports that you meet Akshay quite often to discuss the number one game. I am not interested in this number game. I don't even discuss this with anyone as it does not concern me. As far as I am concerned, my favourite star is Amitabh Bachchan and for me he is the number one. It ends at that. Akshay is my friend and so is Twinkle and yes, we do meet but it has got nothing to do with the number game. • Coming to your work, you are producing three films simultaneously. As an actor I am only doing two films- 3 Idiots and Kiran's Dhobi Ghat where I play an artiste. As a producer, I have completed the shooting of Dhobi Ghat, Delhi Belly and one more film directed by Anusha Rizvi. These three films are extremely unusual and challenge the limits of mainstream cinema.

Ghajini releases in more then 20 countries

The latest on Ghajini, directed by the maverick A.R. Murugadoss is that the film will hit theatres across 22 countries with approximately 300 prints; the key markets being the US and Canada with 112 prints, UAE with 36 prints and the UK with 65 prints. The film will also open simultaneously in Norway, Germany, Denmark, the Netherlands, Belgium, South Africa, Australia, New Zealand, Hong Kong and Singapore amongst others.
Big Pictures, the motion pictures brand of Reliance Big Entertainment Ltd distributing the film internationally, is not leaving any stone unturned to make Ghajini the most watched film of 2008 in the overseas market. "There has been a very high response from exhibitors of Ghajini, the media and the public alike. Aamir Khan has been off the screen for almost a year and his fan base cannot wait, having already pushed the soundtrack up on the charts," says Jawahar Sharma, COO, international distribution, Big Pictures.
"Ghajini is by far the most awaited film of 2008. With the storyline revolving around short term memory loss, with all the excitement and intrigue imaginable, we are hopeful of meeting the audiences’ expectation this holiday season. We are confident of the team at Big Pictures and have completely backed their vision for promoting the film overseas," said producer Madhu Mantena.
A. Geetha Arts production, Ghajini is a remake of the Tamil film with the same title, also directed by A.R. Murugadoss. In the Hindi version starring with Aamir Khan are Asin Thottumkal, Jiah Khan, Mohit Ahlawat and Riyaz Khan.

Gandhiji inspires me: Aamir Khan

You can run but you can’t ignore the magic that runs in the air when Aamir Khan is around. His films 1947: Earth, Sarfarosh, Lagaan, Mangal Pandey- The Rising, Rang De Basanti, Fanaa and Taare Zameen Par show his ability to experiment as an actor in a world full of ‘formulas.’ Considered one of India’s most ambitious actors, Aamir has always made an effort to raise the bar.
But according to him, his belief in doing things differently has come a long way, “I don’t do different things; I try to do it in a different manner. I think every person should follow his/her dream.” Talking about the success his so-called “different” movies have achieved, he says, “I think, the audiences have really changed as they want to see a variety of cinema. Today’s moviegoers are mature and practical. They don’t want the stereotype stuff to be played and that’s why films with unusual subjects are being appreciated and accepted.”
Interestingly, the end result doesn’t really matter much for him. He confirms, “For me, the process is more important, more joyful. I would like to have my entire concentration on the process right from the first step. But I would like to add, I am not a multi-tasker. I focus my efforts on one task at a time.”
Aamir is famous for his views on a number of subjects like the Narmada issue, the Olympic Torch relay and the recent terror attacks in Mumbai. “I am not a social activist. But, if there’s any issue that I feel strongly about, I can give a voice to it. Will I take up other issues in future? Yes, if and when I feel like.” Ask him what/who inspires him and he is quick to respond, “Gandhiji is one person who inspires me!”
Currently shooting in Bangalore for 3 Idiots, he says, “I am having a great time shooting at IIM Bangalore. Since I am also staying on the campus, I save on travel time and as a result I am finally getting time to sleep! Raju Hirani is an absolute delight to work with and so are the rest of the cast and crew.”
And he definitely enjoys being with management students. “In Ahmedabad, I was a teacher and I didn’t get much time to interact with the students. But in IIM, Bangalore, I play badminton and chess with them. It’s fun!”
His passion for cricket was well noticed when he was spotted with Sachin Tendulkar at the IPL matches last year, but not many would know about Aamir’s well-thumbed, eclectic collection of books ranging from PG Wodehouse, Gore Vidal, Mushirul Hasan’s volume on the Partition, Vijay Nambisan’s take on Bihar, Salman Rushdie’s The Ground Beneath Her Feet, Pico Iyer’s Falling Off The Map to a collection of the masterpieces of patriotic Urdu poetry that he safely stacks beneath his chessboard! What is he reading right now? “I’m reading a great book called India After Gandhi, by Ramchandra Guha. It is a book on Indian History post 1947. Must say, it’s very informative!”

Dil hai ki manta nahin

Despite being lured by fabulous scripts and astronomical fees, Aamir Khan is taking a year-long sabbatical from films

Aamir KhanAfter a spectacularly successful performance in Ghajini, Aamir Khan has finally decided to do what he was planning for quite a while.

He's taking a full year off from acting and movies, his astronomical fee of Rs 30 crore or 33 per cent of a film's profit notwithstanding.

A source close to Aamir spills the beans, “It is true that Aamir is finally taking a year off after Raj Kumar Hirani's 3 Idiots is complete. He is currently in Bangalore shooting for the film. Actually, he was planning to take a sabbatical last year after Taare Zameen Par, where the double responsibility of directing and acting sapped him. But then he was coaxed into doing Ghajini and then began his physical re-orientation, the muscle-building and body-toning that really exhausted the method actor. But Aamir is now ready to take the long-pending break. He won't be doing any films for the next one year.”

Though Aamir is taking time off from work to travel, read scripts, watch films and spend time with his children; his production house, Aamir Khan Productions, will function uninterrupted. The filming of Abhinay Deo's Delhi Belly and Kiran Rao's Dhobi Ghat will not be affected.

Work, however, will have to wait.

Aamir Khan to play Guru Dutt?

Three years after Rang de Basanti, Rakeysh Mehra is believed to have put Aamir Khan on the top of his whish-list for his project after Delhi 6.
Talk is that Mehra has the legendary actor-producer-director in mind for a biopic. It is learnt that the untitled movie has been scripted by Nasreen Munni Kabir, who has also written the book Guru Dutt: A Life in Cinema.
Year-end plans
It is believed that Mehra would like to start the movie by the end of the year, but things can be confirmed only after his talks with Aamir Khan with whom he did Rang de Basanti. The actor is currently working in Rajkumar Hirani’s 3 Idiots and his wife Kiran Rao’s Dhobi Ghat.
Khan is also overseeing his home productions Delhi Belly directed by Abhinay Deo and a film on farmers suicides to be helmed by Anusha Rizvi.
Incidentally, Guru Dutt’s Kaagaz ke Phool was itself semi-autobiographical, dealing with his relationship with his wife as well as the woman he loved.
It showed him as a failed filmmaker. The black-and-white film flopped when it was first released in 1959 but went on to achieve the status of a classic.
Aamir Khan to do a film with Danny Boyle?
Would Taare shine at Hollywood galaxy? That was the question on everybody's mind when Aamir Khan and Danny Boyle were spotted chatting for three hours at a stretch.
This sparked off the rumours that the two might be doing a film together.
Aamir Khan was invited as a special guest at an exclusive crew and cast party by Danny Boyle.
Danny Boyle who is planning a dark thriller on Mumbai earlier said in an interview with Hindustan Times that he loved Aamir Khan's Taare Zameen Par that was based on the life of a dyslexic child.

Aamir to testify in underage driving case

The actor, prime witness in the accident involving an 83-year-old man and a 15-year-old driving illegally, records his statement with Khar police
Khar police has named actor Aamir Khan as prime witness in an accident case where an 83-year-old man was knocked down by an underage driver at Linking Road, and later succumbed to his injuries.
On January 3, the 15-year-old son of a carpenter stole his father's bike for an early morning joyride and ended up causing the death of senior citizen Moti Jhangiani who was walking to a temple.
Aamir Khan who happened to be passing by saw the accident and sent his staff to assist the victim who later died. The star has now agreed to testify in the case.
Four days ago Aamir, back in town on a break from shooting his latest film in Bangalore, recorded his statement with the police, and has promised to testify in the trial. His bodyguard and two other people who were in the car with him on the day of the accident, too have given their statement.
The boy was charged under Section 304A of the Indian Penal Code for rash and negligent driving. He was arrested and then released on bail by court, and his father was fined Rs 2,500 for allowing his minor son to drive under the Motor Vehicles Act.
DCP Zone IX Niket Kaushik told this newspaper, "We have recorded the statement of Aamir Khan and three other people associated with him as they are the only witnesses in the case.""We had intimated him that we needed to record his statement as a witness in the case.
Aamir Khan was very co-operative and called others too to his residence for recording of the statement," said an officer from Khar police station. "He is the prime witness in the case and has agreed to co-operate fully when the trial starts."

Aamir Khan̢۪s flattered by cool Katz!

So Ghajini has become the biggest grossing movie in the shortest possible time span? Hmmnn! Why aren’t we surprised? ‘Coz its Aamir boy who

Aamir Khan. More Picswore the ‘thinking cap’ (he probably has it screwed on) for the promotional blitzkrieg. No wonder this Khan has audiences of all shapes, sizes and ages wrapped around his muscled finger (or is it his entire body?). Not only the junta, even industry folks (hot babes with boyfriends included) are in awe of Aamir’s sense of perfection. Recently during an interview with us, Katrina Kaif commented that Aamir Khan has the best body in the business. We’re sure AK must’ve been maha-khush on hearing this, though in his usual nonchalant style he told us, â€Å“I’m flattered by what Katrina said. If you ask me, I like John’s physique. I think he has a great body. I only did what was required for my role. I think Salman has got a great physique, too.” Aha ... we’re sure Sallu will love the latter part of Aamir’s response, but the bit about Johnny boy? We sooo doubt that he’ll agree with his dost. For ‘butt’ obvious reasons, na?

Man of the match

Aamir Khan will star in Ferrari Ki Sawaari, a film based on cricket

Aamir KhanLagaan lovers rejoice! Aamir Khan, who played the gutsy young Bhuvan in Lagaan is all set to do one more film with cricket as the central subject. Called Ferrari Ki Sawaari, the film will be directed by Rajesh Mapuskar, who had been associated with Raju Hirani for several years. Our source said, “Rajesh came up with the idea of Ferrari Ki Sawaari and Vidhu Vinod Chopra loved it. The film is the heartwarming tale of how the pursuit of an Indian cricket legend’s Ferrari makes a young boy’s dreams of playing cricket at Lords a reality. Vidhu will also co-write the film while Raju will do the dialogue. Between them they reached the conclusion that Aamir was the best actor to play the part. When they approached Aamir
A poster of Ferrari Ki Sawaariwith the proposal, he seemed pretty upbeat about it. Once he is done with 3 Idiots, his work for Ferrari Ki Sawaari will begin.”Says Vidhu, “Aamir’s a fantastic actor. Our energies are focused on 3 Idiots currently. I think it is too early to comment on Ferrari Ki Sawaari now. After Dev Anand’s Awwal Number in 1990 and Ashutosh Gowarikar’s Lagaan in 2001, this will be Aamir’s third film revolving around everyone’s favourite game cricket.

Like a Khan

Salman Khan to go the Ghajini way… and no, he isn’t headed to the barber’s shop Aamir Khan has a new student in Salman Khan courtesy Ghajini’s sensational marketing strategy. Salman was so impressed with Aamir’s marketing and promotion techniques that he wants to promote his forthcoming film Wanted: Dead or Alive in a similar manner. Our source close to Salman said, “Salman liked the way Aamir went about promoting Ghajini. Salman was particularly impressed with the multiplex staffers sporting the Ghajini hair-cut. He told producer Boney Kapoor that he was open to discussions with the creative team, so as to make the promotions as unique as possible.”To be on par with Shah Rukh Khan’s Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi and Aamir Khan’s Ghajini last year Salman was available for the media like never before for Yuvvraaj. Our source added. “Salman realised the way in which his presence in print and electronic media could help boost the prospects of a film at the box-office. He also saw how Aamir had gone out of his way to talk about Ghajini with the press. Salman now does not want to leave any stone unturned for Wanted.” Boney Kapoor said, “Salman is going to play a major role throughout the film’s promotion. We have prepared a huge set for Salman’s photoshoot for the film.”

Aamir Khan: Gone in 60 minutes

After the success of Ghajini, Aamir Khan isn’t sitting back and relaxing.
Aamir Khan (TOI photo) More PicsInstead, the actor is shooting inside the IIM premises in Bangalore which has created schedule paranoia in the unit of Raj Kumar Hirani’s 3 Idiots. It comes as no surprise to know that Aamir initially refused to attend the Ghajini success party which happened a couple of days ago. Apparently it is on the recommendation of industrialist Mukesh Ambani that the team of 3 Idiots got the permission to shoot inside the IIM premises. The film’s schedule has been worked around the students’ timetable. Says a source,
“Aamir would do nothing to shake the tight schedule of 3 Idiots in Bangalore. At first he refused to be part of the party. It took all the producers’ persuasive powers to get him to fly to Mumbai just for one evening and that too, on the condition that he would stay at the party for only an hour.” Ghajini’s producer, Madhu Mantena, confirmed, “It’s true that it was almost impossible to convince Aamir to come for Ghajini’s success party. But we wanted to celebrate the film grossing over Rs 200 crore. And how could it be done without Aamir?” So how was the work-obsessed Aamir convinced to leave his location for a party? “We left the day and time for the party entirely to Aamir. He chose the evening of January 12 for the party and also the duration of his stay at the party. He made it clear that he will only stay for an hour,” says Mantena. There was, however, another family affair that Aamir attended during his fly-by-night visit to Mumbai – nephew Imran Khan’s birthday. Aamir wanted to wish Imran personally before flying back to Bangalore.

The accidental caregiver

Aamir Khan rushed an injured elderly gentleman who was knocked down by a speeding motorbike on Sunday morning by : Saan
Posted On Monday, January 05, 2009 at 03:21:20 AM
Aamir Khan Sixty-year-old Moti Jahangir owes a lot to Aamir Khan, who played a good samaritan. On Sunday morning at about 6.30 a.m., Aamir was on his way to a studio when he saw the accident at Bandra’s Linking Road. Two boys on a speeding motorbike rammed into the elderly gentleman throwing him completely off balance.Aamir, who was on the other side of the road, immediately took a U-turn. Our source close to the production unit said, “Aamir was on his way to record an interview which was scheduled at 7 a.m. When Aamir saw that the elderly man had been knocked down, he instructed his bodyguards to rush him to the nearest hospital. There are usually two cars with Aamir - one which he uses while the other one is occupied by his security guards. His security men were obviously worried about Aamir, but he assured them that he would be safe. He also told his men that it was important for them to be with the victim.”
According to our source, Aamir continued to be in touch with his security guards even after reaching the studio. He said, “Aamir kept enquiring about the man. He learnt that the injured man’s name was Moti Jahangir and that he was 60 years old. Aamir’s security had taken Moti to Bhabha Hospital.”
Sunil Bohra, the producer of the show, said, “Aamir appeared tense when he arrived at the studio. He spoke about an accident that he had witnessed on his way.”
Aamir Khan confirmed the news and said, “The sad fact was that nobody stopped to help the man. He was just lying on the road even as cars were passing by. We have to learn to help people in trouble. The person lying there injured or dying could be our family member, would we not want someone to come to his or her help?
”Dr.Vinod Khade of Bhabha Hospital said, “Yes it is true that some men had rushed Moti Jahangir to the hospital. But a person claiming to be Jahangir’s relative moved him to a private hospital.”

Aamir Khan's performance stuns director

This Christmas season, director AR Murugadoss will face one of the biggest tests of his career. The director has had his fair share of successes in the Tamil film industry with films like Dheena and Ramana. Now, the Hindi version of Ghajini will be this small-town director's big leap into Bollywood.
Five differences between the Hindi and Tamil versions of Ghajini... For starters, the climax is different and will surely be talked about. The Rangola... song that was in the Tamil version has been excluded and a new song has been included. In the Tamil version, the hero remembers the villain's face but in the Hindi version, he does not. The sequence in which the villain is tracked down has come out really well.

Aamir Khan

Date of Birth : 14 March 1965, Mumbai, India
Nickname : A.K. AK
Height : 5' 6" (1.68 m)
Mini Biography
Aamir was first introduced as a child artiste in the 1970's hit Yaadon Ki Baaraat (1973) -- he was the youngest child in the trio. He 'quit' movies and went on to become the state tennis champion for Maharashtra. Aamir also fell in love with the girl next door in the meantime. He proposed to her the day he turned 21, and she accepted. But apparently, there was opposition since she was from a Hindu family and he, from a devout Islamic one. So, they eloped, got married and returned to their homes. Aamir's wife Reena even appears in the song "Papa Kehte Hain" that made him the darling of the nation. From the tremendous success of Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak (1988), which was released when he was 23, he has blossomed into India's finest actor. His list of sterling performances include Dil (1990), _Dil Hai Ke Manta Nahin (1990)_, _Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikander (1992)_, Hum Hain Rahi Pyar Ke (1993), Andaz Apna Apna (1994), Rangeela (1995), Raja Hindustani (1996), Ishq (1997), Ghulam (1998) and Sarfarosh (1999).His performance in Earth (1998) as the Ice-Candy man has received rave reviews from Indian and International critics. Using classic "method acting", Aamir acts in all genres of Indian films - comedy, action, drama and romance. Though he performs in few films, Aamir Khan is acknowleged today as the most complete Indian actor for his diverse choice of roles and films.IMDb

He won acclaim for his role in the Academy Award nominated Lagaan: Once Upon a Time in India (2001) and received his second Best Actor award at the Filmfare ceremony as well as numerous other awards. Taking a four year break from acting, Aamir made his comeback with Ketan Mehta's "The Rising" (2005).Aamir began his career as a child actor in films like "Yaadon Ki Baraat" (1973) and "Madhosh" (1974). After eleven years, he made his acting debut in a supporting role with Ketan Mehta's "Holi" (1984).In 1988 he got his first leading role in "Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak" which was a huge success and launched his career.Publicists tried to position him as a teen idol, every college girl's dream. He went on to appear in many other films in the 1990s, which did poorly at the box office. However, Dil became the highest grossing films of 1990. Aamir went on to write the screenply for Mahesh Bhatt's "Hum Hain Rahi Pyaar Ke" (1993), in which he also acted. After his debut his most successful films included Dil (1990), Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikander (1992), Rangeela (1995) and Raja Hindustani (1996).Khan's first and only release in 1996 was Dharmesh Darshan's blockbuster "Raja Hindustani" opposite Karisma Kapoor. John Mathew Matthan's moderately successful "Sarfarosh" (1999) was Khan's first release in 1999. His role as a dedicated cop fighting border terrorism won him critical acclaim. His negative role in Deepa Mehta's offbeat film "Earth"(1999) also won him acclaim. In 2001 he produced and starred in the Academy Award nominated "Lagaan: Once Upon a Time in India". The film became the third highest grossing film of that year and gave him his second Filmfare Best Actor Award. His second release, the moderately successful "Dil Chahta Hai" (2001) also entered into the top five highest grossing films of that year and earned him another nomination for Best Actor at the Filmfare ceremony. For the next four years, Khan had no releases, as he put in a lot of time preparing for the role of the real-life martyr Mangal Pandey in his comeback film, "The Rising"(2005) Although the film was not as successful as "Lagaan", it managed to do moderately well, becoming the third highest grossing film of that year.Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra's critically accliamed Rang De Basanti was Aamir's first release in 2006. His role was well acclaimed, earning him a Filmfare Critics Award for Best Performance and various nominations for Best Actor including the Filmfare Awards. His performance in his next release, "Fanaa" (2006) was also acclaimed and the film went on to become one of the highest grossing films of 2006.He fell in love with Reena Dutta (a Hindu). As Muslims, his parents did not approve of her. As soon as he turned 21, he proposed to her. She accepted and their marriage stayed a secret for a while.Reena Dutta made a brief appearance in a song sequence in Khan's first film, though not a professional actress and already married to him at that time. It was big news when the marriage was first revealed. Reena Dutta maintained a very low profile and continued her job working in a travel agency. However, Aamir's popularity survived the revelation, and his marriage to Reena seemed to have survived too. They had two children (son Junaid and daughter Aira) and led a quiet, publicity-shunning family life. Reena was even involved, briefly, in Aamir's career when she worked as a producer for Lagaan. Then in December 2002, Aamir filed for divorce. Reena took custody of the children. On December 28, 2005, Aamir married again, to Kiran Rao, who had been an assistant to director Ashutosh Gowariker during the filming of Lagaan
