Mallika challenges Katrina

Move over Munni and Sheila, Shalu is here. In what seems like an open challenge thrown at Malaika Arora Khan and Katrina Kaif, Mallika Sherawat shot for an item song on Wednesday whose words blatantly mocked Katrina and Malaika's twin triumphs. Mallika sang, "Munni bhi maani aur Sheila bhi maani, Shalu ke thumke ki duniya deewani."

Apparently the Munni and Sheila choreographer was approached to do Mallika's Shalu ke thumke. But Farah Khan begged off saying she only choreographs for very close family friends.

According to a source, the lyrics of the song were originally quite different. "By openly singing that she's better than Munni and Sheila, Mallika is sending out a clear message. It was the actress who wanted the Munni-Sheila element incorporated into the song. Composer Anand Raj Anand modified the tune accordingly. Mallika wants to position herself as the
no 1 item queen of Bollywood. She feels her Maiyya Maiyya in Guru came long before My Name is Sheila and Munni Badnaam. This year she has already performed two item songs. And is open to more.

The two are good friends even off the screen and are often sighted squabbling with each other. Recently, Katrina revealed something about the actor that not many people know of. ’Akshay loves his phone… he is on phone all the time. It is only when the shot is ready that he agrees to hang up.’
Akshay retaliates, ‘Katrina takes so much time to get ready that while she does so, I can can finish all my work and shoot for my bit.’

Katrina is back with a new look in Blue

Everyone who’s seen Bollywood Actress Katrina Kaif in the promo of BLUE has been pleasantly surprised by her ‘biker chic’ look. The pretty bollywood actress who always been portrayed as a girl next door, is for the first time sporting a gothic grunge look with a stud pierced below her lip, dreadlocks and tattoos all over her arms. Kat’s look has been designed to complement Zayed’s character in the film – that of a daredevil biker.
Says a source form the production team, ”Kat was extremely excited about her new look as it’s a huge contrast from her earlier roles. She gave a lot of inputs and worked closely with the designers on minute details.”
But one thing that gave nightmares to Kat is her hairdo! The dreadlocks that she sports cause a lot of damage to one’s hair and Kat was very particular about that. ”She’d immediately go for a hair wash once the shoot would be over” commented a bollywood source working close with the team.
Ask Kat about her striking appearance in BLUE and the actress gives all the credit to her designer Rocky S who gave her the confidence to pull off the look so stunningly!
Now, we sure can’t wait to see Katrina in this new, rugged avatar, can we!

But the latest news item is that, Katrina and Mallika arora Khan do not like each others presence and are avoiding each other mostly.
Katrina’s Snobbish behavior is the reason for making Mallika against her and so she and her sister Amrita did not bother to at least send an msg to kat on her birthday.
Poor Arbaaz came alone to the party of Katrina and that too on his bro’s request.

The film will be produced by Firoz Nadiadwala. It will also star Amitabh Bachchan.A source close to the production house said, “The film required a lead actor from India and the role has gone to John Abraham. John AbrahamKatrina confirmed the meeting but was reluctant to divulge further details. A friend of Katrina threw some light on the deal. She had a wonderful working relationship with Firozbhai in Welcome and she is more than happy to be part of such an extravagant film.”John Abraham remained unavailable for comment.Jewel of India is the story of a student who discovers a document that leads him to believe that the Kohinoor diamond in the Tower of London is not real, and that the real diamond is somewhere in India.

Katrina Kaif to talk in Hindi

It’s going to be fun to watch Katrina Kaif in Prakash Jha’s Rajniti.
Katrina Kaif More PicsWe hear, Katrina’s role in this movie has been inspired by Sonia Gandhi, while Ranbir Kapoor’s role seems to be inspired by Rajiv Gandhi. Now, if Kat is going to be a political personality, too, she obviously is required to deliver long speeches to crowds, and that’s going to pose a great challenge to the actress. For this, we are told, Kaif has been attending voice modulation classes. Let’s hope she can get rid of that English twang soon.

You are my Sonia

Katrina Kaif’s character in Rajniti is inspired by Sonia Gandhi
Buzz is, Katrina Kaif who’s preparing to leave for Bhopal to join Prakash Jha’s unit of Rajniti is playing a character inspired by Sonia Gandhi.
In fact, Ranbir Kapoor and Katrina’s roles in Rajniti echo Rajiv and Sonia Gandhi’s life in many ways. And it’s not by chance.
A source said, “Like Sonia, Katrina takes over her husband’s political career after his sudden death and she goes on to become a political figure in her own right.”

The role requires Katrina to deliver rousing speeches in front of thousands of people. This is certainly a challenge for Katrina who is barely able to deliver the conventional ‘main tumse pyaar karti hoon’ dialogue due to her heavy British accent.
Filmmaker Prakash Jha has borrowed a leaf from Vishal Bhardwaj’s book to make things easier for Katrina who is now being trained to deliver speeches like Sonia Gandhi.
Just like Vishal recorded all of Saif’s dialogues in Omkara and sent them to the actor so he could deliver them convincingly, Jha too has done the same for Katrina.Prakash Jha said, “I have recorded Katrina’s speeches in shuddh Hindi and sent them to her. I’m sure she can master them.”

When I marry, the world will know: Katrina

After spending six years in Bollywood, British-born actress Katrina Kaif has learnt to handle rumours and criticisms. While she rubbished reports

Katrina Kaif More Picsof her marriage to Salman Khan, she also denied speculation about her sister Isabel entering the Hindi film industry soon.
"It's complete rubbish and the paper (Saamna) is denying it. When I marry, the world will know. Right now I've no such plans," Katrina told IANS. Commenting on speculation about her relationship with Salman, she said: "That's bound to happen. If you're a public figure and if neither of the party is clarifying anything, there's bound to be a lot of speculation and unnecessary comment. But I'm not going to get provoked into giving explanations. Because once they start, they never end." Asked about a picture that showed her entering her birthday party last year, Katrina said: "That wasn't when I entered the party. The picture was taken while we were leaving. I was tired and, yes, I was disappointed. I didn't want it to be turned into tamasha (drama)." Salman and Shah Rukh Khan had a war of words at the birthday bash that was widely reported in the media. Talking about her sister Isabel's Bollywood plans, Katrina said: "That was something completely blown out of proportion. At the moment she's too young to take up an acting career. In fact, my sister is off to drama school. Something I never got to do, and I wish I had. Not being a trained actress bothers me and I'm happy that my sister is taking that route. "I realise I can't be talked about only for my work. You can't have things exactly the way you want them to be." Although Salman and Katrina are a real life couple, they have not been able to form a saleable pair on screen. Katrina had hoped "Yuvvraaj" would work so that she and Salman would be a saleable pair and filmmakers would sign her with Salman as eagerly as they do with Akshay Kumar. But the film sank without a trace at the box office. Apparently, a major drawback was that director Subhash Ghai kept writing the script as the film progressed. "I'd like to stick to a bound script from now on. The time has come for the entire film industry to get completely organised. A script helps both the director and the actor to connect with each other and with the plot. I'm not going to be shy about insisting on a script," the actress said. Katrian admitted she had very little space in "Yuvvraaj". "Yeah, that was something I grew gradually aware of. I didn't have that much to do. But that's okay."However, not attending acting school doesn't make Katrina feel inadequate as an actress. "I think I had to undertake my own journey and do things my own way. I learnt on the job. I think I've acquired knowledge of the camera on-camera. So no regrets about not attending any acting school. If I had regrets about any aspect of my career, I'd be the most ungrateful person on the planet. Look at the level of acceptance I've received in so little time. Some people don't get this kind of success after working all their lives," she said. The 24-year-old ventured into Bollywood in 2003 and was instantly written off because of her strong British accent. But after five years of hard work and determination, she is one of the most sought after actresses in the film world. After the failure of "Yuvvraaj", Katrina is no longer considered a lucky mascot for a film, but she is nonchalant about it. "I think that's just people talking a lot of nonsense. Actors far more intelligent and talented than me have had to deal with ups and downs. Sooner or later I'd have had to deal with failure. No point brooding about it. I've learnt my lessons from the 'Yuvvraaj' experience," said Katrina. Between 2007 and 2008 Katrina delivered six back-to-back hits - "Namastey London", "Apne", "Partner", "Welcome", "Race" and "Singh Is Kinng".

Katrina Kaif goes deglam

The world's sexiest woman (2008) has decided to shed her glamourous image for her role in critically acclaimed filmmaker Prakash Jha's Rajniti.
The change of image is not restricted to her wardrobe alone; Katrina will also be required to speak in a certain dialect, for which she is undergoing voice modulation classes.
Katrina Kaif said, "My role in Rajniti has different shades - I start off as a particular way and end up as a completely changed persona. The character is immensely challenging and it is a huge responsibility to carry off such a character.
I am very excited to work with Prakash Jha, who is known for his kind of cinema and believes in involving himself in every department of his films. In a couple of days, I will be shooting for the film in Bhopal where I have scenes with a crowd of around 500 and I am gearing up for it."
Filmmaker Jha is helping Katrina to slip into her role by guiding her. Katrina revealed, "Prakash Jha is so involved in my characterisation that he is choosing the fabrics for the clothes for my character.

He is so clued in that he knows exactly what he wants for an actor and that makes the transition of my character all the more challenging."
Ask Katrina if she is undergoing voice modulation for her character as the buzz is that she will be seen in a completely deglam look in the second part of the film and she says, "I can't reveal anything about the transition of my character but yes I am also doing the voice modulation as I need to speak in a certain way toward the end of the film."So committed is Katrina in putting her heart and soul into her role in Rajniti that she was unable to do Rohit Shetty's next film with Ajay Devgan and Sanjay Dutt. Katrina said, "It is unfortunate that I had to opt out of that film as I had date problems."

Never say die

Practice makes a man (and woman) perfect. Katrina Kaif and Ranbir Kapoor learnt this the hard way on the sets of Ajab Prem Ki Ghajab Kahani

Katrina Kaif Ranbir KapoorLast week at Film City, Ranbir Kapoor and Katrina Kaif had a tough time on the sets of Rajkumar Santoshi’s Ajab Prem Ki Ghajab Kahani, which also stars Katrina’s beau Salman Khan in a cameo role. Trouble started when Ranbir and Katrina found it rather difficult to perform a few complex dance steps by choreographer Ahmed for the song ‘Follow me’ in the film. Both Ranbir and Katrina asked Ahmed to change the steps. But Ahmed stood his ground. An exasperated Ranbir and Katrina tried their best to convince Ahmed but the choreographer did not relent. Thankfully for Ahmed, director Santoshi didn’t interfere in the matter, which was finally sorted out after Ahmed stood his ground.A source present on the sets said, “Ranbir, Katrina and Ahmed started arguing while filming the song. While Ranbir was not getting a large part of his dance steps right, Katrina had trouble with a few steps which were given to her. Although Ranbir and Katrina put in a lot of effort, they failed to follow Ahmed’s instructions.”“To be fair to Ranbir and Katrina, the steps were not at all easy as the song is a fast one,” our source added.Ahmed confirmed the story and said, “Ranbir as well as Katrina asked for few changes but I didn’t want to change a single move. Usually, rap songs primarily have close-up shots but this song mostly has long shots.”Ahmed isn’t the first choreographer to have differences with actors over complex dance steps. Many other choreographers too face a problem when many actors refuse to see their choreographer’s point of view.Ahmed said, “I have been lucky. I started my career when I was 20 years old and the actors treated me like a child. Now, the younger lot treats me like a friend. I ask actors to perform particular steps after evaluating how much and how well one can perform. For instance, I will not make Sunny Deol dance like Shahid Kapur or Aamir Khan dance like Jackie Shroff or Ranbir Kapoor like Shah Rukh Khan. They all have their limitations as well as their strengths.”Fortunately, after much practice over three long days, Ranbir and Katrina eventually got their steps right. Ahmed said, “Finally, Ranbir and Katrina came out with flying colours. You will see the results on-screen. Even though it took a lot of hard work, in this latest song, Ranbir has danced better than he did in the title song of Bachna Ae Haseeno.”Like they say, all’s well that ends well.

Salman spends quality time with Katrina

Usually, we hear stories about girlfriends and wives visiting film sets to spend time with their busy partners.

Katrina Kaif (TOI Photo) More PicsHowever, this time it was heartwarming to see Salman Khan deciding to shower attention on girlfriend, Katrina Kaif. A couple of days ago, Salman shot for the Katrina-Ranbir Kapoor starrer, Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani, in which he is playing a special role. The film is produced by Ramesh Taurani. Even after Salman completed shooting for his portions, he chose to hand around on the film’s sets at Film City, in Goregaon, Mumbai so that he could spend quality time with Katrina. Now, that’s what we call a classic case of mixing business with pleasure. Also one good deed deserves another. Right, Sallu bhai? Our source from the sets said, “Salman and Katrina looked comfortable and quite happy in each other’s company. They even had some snacks together. Salman has an important role in Ajab Prem... and he is enjoying it.” When contacted, Katrina said, “It’d be better if you speak to Raj Kumar Santoshi (director) about this. I am very busy right now.” Santoshi, however, was unavailable for comment.

Hard copy

Dabboo Ratnani’s calendar has a picture of Katrina Kaif posing on a horse; the picture is a carbon copy of Soha Ali Khan’s taken by Vicky Idnani earlier

Yes, Dabboo Ratnani shoots one of the best calendars of the year with the biggest Bollywood stars. We ourselves liked the images that he shot this year but to our horror, we found plagiarism in this one. Dabboo Ratnani’s calendar has a picture of Katrina Kaif posing on a horse, which resembles one which Vicky Idnani’s shot last year with Soha Ali Khan. Obviously, Vicky is enraged with Dabboo. Both actresses, Katrina and Soha are riding a horse, wearing a white dress, and both have their hair flying in the wind. When Vicky saw Dabboo’s calendar, he almost fell off his chair. Though he hasn’t contacted Dabboo and questioned him yet, he has been upset about it.
Katrina Kaif by Dabboo RatnaniVicky said, “I have grown up seeing Dabboo’s work. It is good to see that he is inspired by my work today.”Dabboo however, had a different story to tell, “I have no clue about Vicky’s picture of Soha. My concept was to show Katrina against a snowy backdrop and I did just that.”

I’m lovin’ it

Katrina Kaif is the only actress (and the youngest) to have earned an award nomination among stalwarts from different fields
Katrina Kaif has hit the bull’s eye and how! She is on a professional high after delivering a string of hits and is currently the most sought-after actress in the film industry. A popular channel has recognised Katrina’s achievement and listed her as an award nominee. The high point of the nomination is that the 24-year-old actress is the youngest and the only Bollywood actress to be featured among stalwarts from different fields. The top notch personalities among whom Katrina features are Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, boxing champ Vijender Singh, cricketer Mahendra Singh Dhoni, chess wizard Vishwanathan Anand, Industrialist Ratan Tata and Mukesh Ambani and film personalities like Aamir Khan, Akshay Kumar, Prasoon Joshi and Naseeruddin Shah. Interestingly, Katrina Kaif is the only Indian actress to have made it to the list. According to the channel, “Five years after Katrina Kaif made her debut in the rather tragic film Boom (2003), she has scaled every peak that critics said she couldn’t. The lady has delivered seven hits from Namastey London to Singh Is Kinng.”No wonder, Katrina Kaif is on cloud nine. A visibly thrilled Katrina said, “Whatever is happening to me is amazing. This is the best thing to have happened to me in such a short span of time. I never even dreamt that one day I would be featured among people who have given 10 to 30 years to their careers. This award nomination has caught me completely off guard. I am not going to analyse it, justify it or even question it - I am only going to enjoy it. It is a pay off for my journey in the film industry and I am thoroughly enjoying it.”

Accident prone Katrina

Accidents seem to have become a way of life for Katrina Kaif. Katrina badly injured her face while shooting for Rajkumar Santoshi’s Ajab Prem Ki
Katrina Kaif. (TOI Photo)More PicsGhazab Kahaani at Madh Island recently.
A unit hand said, “It was an emotional scene. It so happened that Ranbir Kapoor was supposed to slap her in the scene. He missed the mark and ended up hurting Katrina. Santoshi asked her to take a day off to rest. But Katrina was back at work the next day.” After that, Katrina met with accident yet again and this time it was on the sets of De Dhana Dhan. A source close to the actress says, “Katrina was to shoot an underwater sequence for the film. But while doing that she badly injured her leg. It began bleeding profusely.” When Katrina returned to shoot the next day the wound had not healed and began bleeding profusely once again. However, She managed to complete the shoot. We hope, she has an accident-free year ahead.

I've yet to do a great comedy: Katrina Kaif

NEW DELHI: She may have starred in hit comic capers like Namastey London, Partner, Welcome and Singh Is Kinng, but actress Katrina Kaif says she is yet to do an "out and out comic role".
"I think I have yet to do a great comic role. I have done a lot of comedy films but I don't think I have done an out and out comic role," she said.
According to Katrina, her character in Namastey London was kind of funny but not a real comic role. "I still haven't really done a comedy yet," she said.
