Dutt teri ki!

lady who lives in the same building as Sanjay Dutt was noticeably irritated with the commotion during the actor's wedding anniversary bash

Lately, actors and their late night parties have caused enough trouble. After irate neighbours complained to the police about too much noise during Preity Zinta and Hrithik Roshan's birthday parties in January, it was Sanjay Dutt's turn on the night of February 10. Sanjay and Manyata Dutt had to face one of their building resident's ire while a lavish party to celebrate their first wedding anniversary was on in full swing at their Pali Hill residence on Tuesday night.
A middle-aged lady who resides on the first floor of the same building as Sanju created quite a ruckus about several media persons gathering outside the building. She clearly told all the media persons to immediately leave the vicinity as she was getting disturbed.

Sensing that the lady was unable to deftly handle the situation as there was a lot of commotion, Sanjay went up to the lady and politely asked her to calm down.An onlooker said, “The lady looked very upset but when she saw Sanjay, she immediately calmed down. Things definitely got better after Sanjay spoke to her and politely explained the situation to her.” Commenting on the incident, Dharam Oberoi, CEO of Sanjay Dutt Productions, said, “The lady is a lawyer. She was getting disturbed due to all the noise outside the building. Everything was eventually sorted out.” When asked if she had called the policemen who were seen outside the building, Dharam replied, “I don't know anything about that.”

Congratulations, Mr & Mrs Dutt

Tomorrow is Sanjay Dutt and Manyata’s first wedding anniversary. They are having a lavish party at their Pali Hill residence tonight
Although their wedding ceremony on February 11 last year was a private affair, this year Sanjay Dutt and wife Manyata are certainly in the mood to let everyone be part of their first anniversary celebrations. Tonight, the couple is throwing a lavish party at their Pali Hill residence.
Our source close to the Dutts said, “Manyata has brought stability to Sanjay’s life. Sanjay is very happy. He has quite a few films on hand and has also entered politics now. So why shouldn’t he and Manyata enjoy this day to the hilt?”
The guest list for today’s party reads the who’s who of the film industry. “John Abraham-Bipasha Basu, Ajay Devgan-Kajol, Bunty Walia, Zayed Khan-Mallika and many other prominent personalities from the film industry will attend the do. Sanjay and Manyata are taking special care to prepare the guest list and menu. The party will start late tonight and is expected to go on till the early hours of February 11,” said the source. Amar Singh and Shatrughan Sinha too will be present at the anniversary party.
Sanjay’s business manager Dharam Oberoi confirmed the news and said, “Yes, Sanjay and Manyata are having a celebration at their house to bring in their first wedding anniversary.”
Last year, after having a court marriage on February 7, Sanjay had tied the knot with Manyata as per Hindu customs on February 11. The rituals had taken place at Manyata’s friend Pradeep’s place at Versova. Only few selected guests from the industry were present during the pheras. Present at the ceremony were Sanjay's close friend Bunty Walia, Dharam Oberoi (CEO, Sanjay Dutt Productions), Suniel Shetty and Arshad Warsi.

Blue days

The schedule of Blue is in a mess. Sanjay Dutt was reluctant to shoot for the film as he felt that Akshay Kumar was overshadowing him in the film

Sanjay Dutt is not very happy with his forthcoming film Blue as he feels that Akshay Kumar has overshadowed him in the film. As a result, the friction between the two stars is palpable, which in turn has had a negative impact on the film. The film is already 80 per cent complete and is said to be one of the most expensive films in the Hindi film industry with more than Rs 100 crore already spent on the film. Now attempts are being made to get Sanjay and Akshay together so that the remaining portions of the film can be completed without any more pressure.

Our source said, "Initially, Sanjay and Akshay used to get along well. The animosity started when Sanjay felt that Akshay is trying to overshadow him in the film. Sanjay also felt that director Anthony D'souza is especially favouring Akshay after the successful run that he has been enjoying at the box-office in recent times. There were also reports that Sanjay is delaying the film and to make matters worse, Sanjay feels that it was Akshay who spread these rumours."

According to our source, due to these issues, Sanjay also started reporting late at 2 pm even though it was a 9 am shift. Sanjay would hardly shoot for two hours during the Bangkok schedule thereby stretching the shooting schedule to 150 days even though initially the schedule was supposed to be only of 80 days.
Akshay Kumar"The entire unit including Akshay Kumar and Lara Dutta were kept waiting every day on the sets while Sanjay Dutt reported late. As this is director Anthony's first film, he has no say in front of a senior actor like Sanjay," said our source.

sAfter much discussion, Sanjay and Akshay have finally agreed to start shooting for the balance portions of Blue in February.
Sanjay's business manager Dharam Oberoi said, "Nothing like this happened. In fact, Sanju and Akshay are best friends. Only some patchwork needs to be completed, which we are planning to shoot starting February 20. Sanju has no problem working with Akshay in the film."

Pol-ethics at play

Will Munnabhai work its magic for Sanjay Dutt’s Lok Sabha campaign? To find out, read on

What do Masoom, Mother India and Munnabhai have in common? Other than the ‘M’, the films’ starred future politicians of India. Masoom had Shabana Azmi, Mother India had Sunil Dutt and Munnabhai had Sanjay Dutt.Dutt’s party members are only too glad about his decision as they see in Dutt the return of innocence to politics. Dutt admitted that he aims to put across the Munnabhai image prominently through his propaganda material for the Lok Sabha elections, he said, “I’m all heart and that won’t change when I get into politics. The Munnabhai character is closest to what I am.”But it isn’t going to be that easy for Dutt. According to the Election Commision’s Code of Conduct any film/ starring Dutt(or any actor) will not be allowed to screen during the campaign period. Therefore the question on everybody’s mind; When is Munnabhai Chale Amrika (MCA) coming in? Dutt who is shooting in Cape Town for Luck said, “The shoot for the MCA film will definitely begin in December 2009.” Though our sources claim Dutt and his supporters want MCA to begin earlier this year, “The one film that will get top priority in Dutt’s celluloid shuffle is the next Munnabhai film. Feelers have been sent to director Raj Kumar Hirani and producer Vidhu Vinod Chopra to ensure it happens as soon as possible,” said our source. But this is not going to happen as the director has his hands full with 3 Idiots till the year end. A source said, “Hirani will say goodbye to the Munnabhai series after MCA to make a film for Sanjay Dutt Productions. It definitely won’t be a Munnabhai film as the copyrights for Munnabhai belong to Vinod Chopra. Abhijat Joshi who has co-written the first three Munnabhai films will probably direct the fourth Munnabhai one.”The film will feature Munna’s kooky sidekick Arshad Warsi. Since MCA takes Dutt and Warsi to the United States of America, Barack Obama has been weaved into the script.

Sanjay Baba has a lot to learn

Sanjay Dutt
may be one of the biggest stars of tinsel town, but the deadly Dutt, unlike his father Sunil Dutt, has still a lot to learn as far as

Manyata, Sanjay Dutt and Manoj Tiwari (TOI Photo) More Picspolitics is concerned. The controversial actor (who is starting his political innings now) seemed to be clueless about addressing a press conference on his recent visit to Lucknow the other day as the juornos fired a volley of questions on him. With Amar Singh continuously prompting him as to what he should say with Jaya Bachchan coming to his rescue as Dutt had a torrid time fielding hardcore political questions. And Munnabhai sent clear signals too that he was having a tough time batting on a different wicket – politics. Clad in a white kurta-payjama, a green muffler, a black sadri with a huge red teeka on the forehead, Dutt surely looked a complete neta. But while that was only in appearance, talking wise the actor failed to impress the media.

“I won’t give any bhashan, I’ll say dil ki baat,” said Dutt as he embarked on his political career. And while his expressions were those of one who’s nervous, on numerous occasions, the dashing Dutt even fumbled while answering to the media.

For that matter, his wife Manyata looked way more confident. Speaking without a stutter she said, “I would like to thank the people of Lucknow for giving such good support to my husband. I’m not new to this place as I have visited Lucknow many a times since my nanihaal was here.” Impressed by Manyata's small but crisp speech, Dutt pitched in with a smile, “She’s spoken so nicely that I feel, in public meetings later on, I’ll stand on the stage and let Manyata speak for me.”

Justifying his entry into politics, Dutt made it very clear that, “I was asked to contest elections by Amar Singhji because he said ‘you have done good work and the whole country is with you.’ And after coming to Lucknow and seeing the overwhelming response that I got from the Lucknow janata, I did realise that they are with me. Meri ragon mein Nargis aur Dutt saab (Sunil Dutt) ka khoon hai jinhone desh ke liye bahut kuchh kiya hai.”

When asked about his agenda for the elections, Munnabhai said, “Mera chunavi mudda Gandhigiri rahega. I'll give lots of jaadu ki jhappis.” So what all will he do if he gets a chance to meet chief minister Mayawati? “I’ll offer her flowers,” came a quick one from Sanju baba.

That really sums up everything!

Separating truth from fiction

Sanjay Dutt
Rahul Dholakia’s Lamhaa is facing a hard time as several separatist Kashmiri bodies have opposed the film’s content.
Sanjay Dutt. (TOI Photo)More PicsThe film deals with terrorism and its consequences in Jammu and Kashmir. Dholakia, who’s best known for the hard-hitting Parzania, said, “For the past three months, different sections of Kashmiris like the Kashmiri Pandits, Kashmiri Muslims and a few people from abroad have protested against the film. I have made the script even more fictitious so that it doesn’t hurt anyone’s sentiments.” Anil Raina, a Kashmiri journalist who introduced Dholakia to the separatists in Kashmir, said, “Separatists like Geelani, Shahidul Islam and other top-notch individuals were against the film and had conveyed that to Dholakia. They were afraid that Dholakia’s realistic style of filmmaking would portray them negatively and that aspect would work against their efforts. I had to intervene and convince them otherwise. At my behest, Dholakia changed many characters in the film. As I played a central part in getting the film on track, I didn’t want anything to go against us. After all, I have to live here with my mother and do not wish to be slaughtered at the hands of the separatists.” Dholakia said, “It was a gruelling task to change the characters from real to fictitious. For example, Kunal Kapoor’s character was based on Shahidul Islam, but not anymore. Anupam Kher’s character was based on Geelani, but now it has only a slight essence of Geelani. People have become more sensitive after the 26/11 attack. I don’t want to take any risks. Making and releasing the film is more important.” Lamhaa stars Sanjay Dutt, Kunal Kapoor and Bipasha Basu.

Sanjay Dutt penning his autobiography

Fans of Sanjay Dutt can read about his eventful life in his autobiography, The Roar of a Lion, which he is now working on. “Sanjay Dutt’s autobiography is called The Roar of a Lion and it is almost half done,” a well-placed source in the film industry said here on Saturday, revealing the title that was the subject of much guesswork so far. The date for the book’s release has not been decided as Dutt is busy with his film schedules.
He had long been telling friends about his wish to pen an autobiography. When he told his wife Manyata about it, she backed him to the hilt. Meanwhile, Dutt’s filmmaker friend Sanjay Gupta too has commissioned a biography of the actor as a tribute to him.
To be penned by journalist, author and lyricist Neelesh Mishra, it will be in three volumes covering Dutt’s life in three phases.
The first volume will deal with the period when the star went into drug rehabilitation. The second volume will recount his marriage to Richa Sharma, their divorce and her tragic death, while the final volume will be about his legal battles, probation and life beyond all that.
