Shahrukh, Juhi Chawla to build a cricket stadium

Shahrukh Khan and Juhi Chawla are thick friends. Now the duo has decided to take up an ambitious project. Juhi Chawla with her husband Jai Mehta has joined hands with actor and Kolkata Knight Riders owner Shahrukh Khan to build up a cricket stadium in Porbandar, Gujrat.
The existing ground is named Duleep cricket ground. The new stadium will be named after Jai Mehta’s grandfather Nanji Kalidas Mehta. Porbandar is selected for the cricket ground because it is the birth place of Mahatma Gandhi and in addition Jai hails from Porbandar and he has some business interest around the place. The stadium will benefit KKR also, it will be a training camp for them.
Says a source, "The local district cricket association and Mehta Sports Private Limited recently inked a deal to build the Nanji Kalidas Mehta stadium at a cost of almost Rs 10 crore."Adds the source, "They have decided on a three-tiered approach. First they plan to make at least 12 pitches, then the dressing rooms and finally the stands. MUMBAI (Reuters) - Actor Aamir Khan has resigned from a panel formed by the government to discuss amendments to the Copyright Act, saying he was "disi

BERLIN (Reuters) - Shah Rukh Khan said on Friday he was "scared" and "hurt" by Shiv Sena's reaction to recent remarks he made in support of Pakistani cricketers.
The 44-year-old heartthrob, in Berlin to present his latest movie "My Name is Khan", also told reporters that he wanted to see the row settled quickly.
"I really want everybody to be happy ... and I'll make sure that by the time I get back to India that everybody is happy," said Khan.
"I don't want any aggression, any problem. I get very, very disturbed and scared and emotionally hurt when things like this happen."
He was referring to protests by Shiv Sena after he criticised the fact that no Pakistani cricketers had been picked for the Indian Premier League.
Earlier this week more than a thousand Shiv Sena workers were taken into preventive custody by police and security was beefed up at cinemas in Mumbai on Friday as the group targeted the opening of My Name is Khan.
Some theatres were initially reluctant to screen the movie for fear of violence, raising concerns among some analysts that Mumbai's image as a cosmopolitan business hub could suffer and that the city was being undermined by parochial politics.
Shiv Sena, which runs the Mumbai municipality, draws political sustenance from hardline Hinduism and an ultra-nationalism that includes strident opposition to Pakistan.Khan said he was tired of the bickering, and stressed he was merely an entertainer.
"So much has been said, so much has been spoken, and with all due respect to everybody around the world, including in my country India, in my city Mumbai ... right now I'd just like to sit down here, walk the red carpet, have some champagne, enjoy the film.
"We as filmmakers should never ever look beyond the fact that we are here to serve the audience. That's how I see it. I truly believe that my job is to make sure people smile. I have no self-centredness or ego about it."
My Name Is Khan, directed by Karan Johar, is about a man named Rizvan Khan, a respectable Muslim played by Khan who suffers from Asperger syndrome, a mild form of autism.
Khan falls in love with a single mother, played by Indian actress Kajol, who runs a hair salon. But their budding romance is interrupted by the spread of prejudice against Muslims following the Sept. 11 attacks.

Sourav to question Shahrukh

Sourav Ganguly’s most popular quiz show, ‘Dadagiri’ will be now on Zee TV. The first episode of the Hindi version will feature Shahrukh Khan and Rani Mukherjee. The show became so popular in Zee Bangla that Zee TV has decided to make a Hindi version of the quiz show. It has also been decided that Shahrukh Khan and Rani Mukherjee will be the first celebrity guests. Says a source from Kolkata, "Sourav's show Dadagiri is one of the most popular shows in Bengal. The show has become so popular in such a short time that the producers now want to make it national. And in Hindi! The channel is currently in talks with Shah Rukh Khan and Rani Mukerji to come on the opening episode when it goes national. Apart from Shah Rukh's association with Zee and Subhash Chandra Goel he's keen to come on the show for appearance's sake - that relations between him and Sourav are not strained after the IPL but are absolutely rocking!"A source from the channel says, "The channel and SRK are in talks. Negotiations are on."Sujoy Shetty, Business Head from Zee Bangla, says, "I can't tell you anything about Shah Rukh and Rani coming on Dadagiri right now. However, I can say that Dadagiri is doing extremely well. We have had a record 1.5 lakh SMSes in four weeks, which is huge. As far as going national is concerned, we can't do that before January; that's when the Bengali version ends. If there's a national show of Dadagiri with Sourav hosting it, it will only come after January." However, no more details of the show are known.

Shahrukh washes his wife’s feet every morning!

Can you imagine that King Khan every morning washes his wife’s feet and drinks the water? Yes, this masaladar truth directly came from the horse mouth, Shahrukh Khan. Shahrukh Khan is his wife’s man. He idolizes Gauri and he has already proved himself a dedicated husband. He revealed the secret to host Farah Khan on the chat show, ‘Tere Mere Beech Mein’. He worships Gauri and for his ‘Joru Ka Ghulam’ nature, he was awarded the ‘Joru Ka Gulaam’ award.Shahrukh Khan even admitted that before marriage he was very possessive about Gauri and debarred her from wearing mini-skirts and T-shirts. “But I promised her the minute we married that I'd never behave in such a rotten manner. She would never feel curbed from doing anything. I was only insecure till we were married because I didn't know if she belonged to me like I belonged to her,” stated Khan.Shahrukh went on to say that his son Aryan now doesn’t like his mother to wear long covered clothes as he feels she is the most beautiful woman. The nominee for the ‘Joru Ka Ghulam’ award was Abhishek Bachchan (for Aishwarya Rai), Anil Ambani (Tina Ambani), Hrithik Roshan (Suzzane), Sachin Tendulkar (Anjali), Akshaye Kumar (Twinkle) but it was Shahrukh Khan who walked away with the award. On receiving the award, Shahrukh said, “Yeh mera haq hain aur maine haq se jeeta hai!”

SRK gets himself a van, 14 meters long

Bollywood’s baadshah SRK, is known to do things King size and the actor has gone ahead and bought himself a vanity van, a whooping 14 meters long designed by Dilip Chhabarai.
Dilip says, “We delivered Shah Rukh his van a week ago. It took us four whole months to build it, making it one of our most ambitious projects. Normally, we design vans that are eight to nine metres in length. But this one’s 14 metres long. But since a 14-metre van can’t be easily navigated, we’ve used a hydraulic system that enables the van to reduce in size when in motion. It can later expand to double its size when stationary.”
Describing the look of the van, Dilip says, “The van is a Volvo that is available in India, but what distinguishes this van from that of others is its chassis. We’ve used the biggest one. With five rooms inside, SRK will have the comfort of a lounge with bar, a gym, an office, a bedroom and a wash room with a shower. And since SRK is a technofreak, we’ve designed the van keeping that in mind, with an abundant scope for technology. The entire van has dual system for everything and new software has been created and programmed on the computer, converting all switches to touch screen. So, when SRK’s in a party mood, the lights can work as party lights, and when he wants to relax, the lights can shift to relax mode.”
“SRK was keen to have certain things his way, so he has put in a lot of effort in the project. And the result of course, is one of the best designs we’ve created.”
Whoa SRK, has got himself a mobile home!

SRK to transform into a superhero

Bollywood has its own league of superheroes, be it Hrithik Roshan for Krissh or Abhishek Bachchan for Drona and now another actor is ready to join this Justice league, the King Khan - SRK.
SRK tickled our funny bone by donning the superhero outfit in Om Shanti Om and in Billu Barber too, but this time its a serious and full-fledged role being directed by Anubhav Sinha.
The flick will be having loads of special effects and fighting sequences and the film will take a start in September.
So what do you think folks? SRK as a superhero?

Even I will try to be present at the maximum number of matches. As far as my kids are concerned, I will request Lalit Modi (Chairman of the IPL and vice-president of the Indian cricket board) to reschedule the matches at the weekend, so that my kids can attend it.”

SRK ropes in a Hollywood writer

Shahrukh Khan has roped in noted Hollywood writer David Benullo for his next home production titled Ra.1 which will be directed by Anubhav Sinha. Ra1 is a complete special effect flick and Benullo who has been associated with great flicks like Shadow Man, Cupid, Hallowed Ground etc will do a complete justice with SRK flick.
A source says, “Since Ra.1 is not a run-of-the-mill film, it requires a unique treatment. It’s has loads of special effects, which is why it will be made differently from the usual commercial Hindi films. SRK wanted a writer who would do justice to the film. Which is why he got David Benullo to work on the script.”
“The writer has already started work on the film when he was he was in India recently. He was working from the Red Chillies office. He had several discussions with SRK when he was recuperating after his shoulder surgery.”
Director Anubhav Sinha when quizzed confirmed the rumor and said, “Yes, David Benullo is one of the writers working on the script. It’s too early to tell you anything more since I can’t talk about the film.”

Shah Rukh Khan busy from friends

Shah Rukh Khan’s back is giving him trouble yet again, after he hurt himself shooting for one of his films. He had a scene in Vivek Vaswani’s film Dulha Mil Gaya where he had to lift a 200 kg sumo wrestler, and he hurt his back in the process.

Sitting at home, SRK talks about the various issues and controversies surrounding him in recent times. How did he react to allegations that the film Om Shanti Om was lifted from writer Ajay Monga’s script? "I was narrated the script of Om Shanti Om by Farah Khan many years ago when I was shooting for Mani Ratnam’s Dil Se. That was the time that Santosh Sivan narrated a script of Asoka to me. I did not do the film then. But later, I was supposed to do another film for Farah called Happy New Year with Amitji (Amitabh Bachchan). But Amitji fell ill and was hospitalised and we knew that film could not be made because of his ill health. It was his film all the way and we knew that he was not in a position to give so much time and energy to the movie. It was then that I told Farah to bring over the script of Om Shanti Om to me, which she had narrated to me earlier and I agreed to do it. So there was no way how we could have taken the script from anyone else as the said person has claimed," explains Shah Rukh.
And what about the Manoj Kumar issue pertaining to the same film where Kumar asked them to delete all the scenes that made a mockery out of him? "Manojji is a veteran film personality and we respect everyone from the industry. We will do what he wants as long as it makes him happy," says Shah Rukh, who has Aditya Chopra’s Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi releasing this year. He stars opposite a new girl called Anushka Sharma. "Oh, is Sharma her surname? Anushka Sharma? Well, she’s very good, very hardworking. She has a bright future," he says of the new heroine adding, "Aditya told me that he had narrowed in on a few girls and was sending me some pictures. I told him to finalise one and then show me the picture. That’s how Anushka was selected. We were also looking at some established names, but then we felt we needed a fresh face for the film." What are the other projects that he’s working on nowadays? "Besides Dulha Mil Gaya and Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi, I am doing an animated film Ravan, which is a long drawn process for me. I am also writing that film now. I have Farah’s next film as well, which will start next year. So life seems to be a choc-a-bloc with work for now," he says going on to explain how he injured his back. "I am currently bed-ridden. I forget I am 43 and I tried to do a fight sequence and got hurt very badly. I hurt my back and my neck. The doctor is coming every two hours to check my state and monitor me closely. I am in extreme pain and am taking a lot of painkillers. Hopefully, I should be better soon. My children are happy to see me at home, and that’s the only consolation."
SRK is also facing the heat from his industry friends who are upset with him for being so busy and having no time for them. "There are some friends who feel that I don’t get the time to meet them. I’m very simple. I do two to three films a year and they take up 200 days. I do around 15 endorsements with an average of three days per endorsement which take up another 50 days. I also manage to do about 20-25 live shows — whether it’s award shows or the rehearsals which take up about 40 days. Then I spend a few days shooting and promoting my television shows. I have my own production company, and I spend some time with office work. I take about one-and-a-half months break from work to spend with my children. So I run short of 70 days in a year. I have a lot of friends who I can’t give time to. Salman Khan also got angry because I could not do his film Main Aur Mrs Khanna. It wasn’t easy for me to say no, but then Dulha Mil Gaya, which is my friend Vivek’s, was also stuck because I have not been able to give my dates for my special appearance, which I just managed to film for him recently.

I take Gauri for granted!: Shah Rukh Khan

Mumbai: "I am not a romantic person -- I am just sweet and a little charming," Shah Rukh Khan says with his trademark dimpled smile. "I don't really know how to go about doing candlelight dinners and gifting flowers and all. I am a normal guy who would have to put in a lot of effort to do romantic things."

On the occasion of Valentine's Day, Shah Rukh Khan gets candid about the changing equations with wife Gauri over their 24 years of togetherness.
Wife Gauri and he have been together for 24 years now, 17 years of marriage included. "Now that you mention it, it seems long, but otherwise we don't really sit back and think of the years like that. A lot of things have happened, and of course the kids (son Aaryan and daughter Suhana) came along..."
SRK says it's obvious that equations and priorities change soon after kids come along. "You are a family more than a couple. We still look at the kids as some kind of miracle. Here they are, these little bundles of joy, who actually even look like us.
When we had started courting, we hadn't really thought we would achieve this," he says with a smile. "I take Gauri for granted, most times," he says, candidly. "If you don't take your family for granted, who else do you? I don't agree when they say you should not take your family or the people you love for granted. They are the only ones you can take for granted, and that's why they are your family," he says.
Shah Rukh likes taking Gauri's advice. "Sometimes I listen to her, sometimes I don't," he says. "She gets a little irritated when I crack some jokes which she thinks doesn't suit the position I am in. Like when I retaliate to some nasty comment made on me, she tells me, 'Why do you do it? You don't have to!'
She thinks I should be more dignified than that, but sometimes I do it anyway because I think the situation demands it."

Billu-standard

Yesterday, an afternoon show of Billu at New Empire theatre was cancelled just 10 minutes after the film started
Yesterday, 12.30 pm show of Billu at New Empire theatre was called off suddenly. The viewers who were already seated in the theatre were shocked when suddenly an announcement was made 10 minutes after the film started that the show has to be cancelled.
One of the viewers who had gone to watch the film said, “There were about 30 people seated in the balcony and 50 in the stall. We wondered if the show was cancelled because there weren’t too many viewers. However, we later got to know that there was some technical problem due to which the show had to be called off. The manager of the theatre apologised for the unexpected turn of events. They also refunded the ticket money.”
Umrekar, the manager, of New Empire theatre confirmed the incident and said, “We had to cancel the show because there was a problem with the film’s sound due to which the dialogues could not be heard clearly. We had to call an engineer to fix the problem. Since he took some time to arrive and we did not want the audience to wait lest they get impatient and create a ruckus, we refunded the ticket money.”

Shot-sighted

When Shah Rukh Khan summoned Santosh Sivan to shoot his entry sequence of Billu, Sivan dropped everything to oblige.

When it comes to shooting an important sequence, it seems Shah Rukh Khan trusts no one else but his friend, cinematographer-turned-filmmaker Santosh Sivan. One of SRK’s most loyal friends, Santosh, has earlier worked with him on Phir Bhi Dil Hai Hindustani and Asoka. So this time, when he got a call from the actor to come to Mumbai immediately and shoot a sequence for Billu, Sanotsh readily set his own work in Chennai aside and rushed to Mumbai.

SRK wanted Santosh to shoot his glamorous entry sequence which requires him to enter on a motorbike with a pounding background score. Though the cinematographer for Billu is V Manikandan, Santosh who never impinges on a colleague’s territory decided to make Billu an exception for friendship’s sake. After all, Billu is all about celebrating friendship.Says Santosh, “Shah Rukh asked me to do the particular entry sequence, and no one says ‘no’ to him. The last I had shot for Priyadarshan (director of Billu) was nearly a decade ago, for Kalapani (1996), a film that had got me a National award. For Shah Rukh’s scenes where he interacts with his fans on a motorbike we shot at Mukesh Mills for two days.”

Santosh is now planning to direct and shoot a film that SRK will produce and act in.

The dosti factor

Shah Rukh Khan patches-up with best friend Farah Khan’s husband Shirish Kunder; Shirish to now direct SRK’s film based on the book, The Zoya Factor
Shah Rukh Khan’s Red Chillies Entertainment has selected Shirish Kunder to direct a film based on Anuja Chauhan’s super hit novel, The Zoya Factor. This news will come as a surprise to many considering that not too long ago SRK and Shirish had differences when the former refused to star in the latter’s film, Joker. However, in the wake of this recent news, one can safely assume that all’s well between the two now.
SRK will not only produce but also play a superstar in the film.
Our source said, “Earlier, Shirish was supposed to make Joker with SRK. However, SRK was not very happy with the final draft of the film because of which the project failed to go on the floors. What followed were several reports of a fall-out between the two. However, since SRK’s best friend Farah Khan is married to Shirish, the actor couldn’t stay upset with Shirish for long.”
Coming back to the new film, SRK’s production house bought the rights of The Zoya Factor as they were keen to make a film based on it. It was SRK who asked Shirish to make a film on the bestseller.
“Shirish has already started work on the film and after the final draft is made, they will start looking for a lead actor who will play a cricketer. The film will soon go on the floors,” said our source.
Shirish Kunder said, “I am not allowed to speak about it.”
We also sent a text message to SRK but he did not reply.
The Zoya Factor by Anuja Chauhan
The book is about Zoya who was born at the exact moment that India won the 1983 World Cup. Her father and brother suddenly realise that they never lose a match when Zoya accompanies them. Zoya herself realises this much later. While working in an ad-agency, Zoya gets to spend time with the Indian cricket team.
The chemistry between Zoya and the Indian captain Nikhil Khoda only makes things more interesting. In the end, Zoya’s ‘luck factor’ works and India manages to win the World Cup and Nikhil proposes to Zoya.

SRK talks about being a star

Shah Rukh Khan who is essaying the role of a 'star' who interacts with a common man (Irrfan Khan) in the upcoming Billu talks about the impact that superstar has on a common man. Here King Khan relives his own experiences as a superstar...
Movie stars all around the world are loved and adored (and sometimes hated) by the audiences who connect with them for some reason or the other.

As actors, not only do people go to theatres to see us, we even go to their living rooms and bedrooms through television.

We become a part of their lives. And sometimes impact them, even without knowing them personally.
Here, I relate instances that show the effect of stardom on ordinary people.
I believe...
When an ordinary person becomes a star, stardom doesn't matter I can safely say this because I was an ordinary guy who became a star. And I have had some strange incidents happen to me after achieving stardom.
To me, the ultimate measure of stardom were the letters in blood; because I had read interviews of Rajesh Khanna where he'd mentioned, 'humko log khoon mein letters likhte hain!'
But to be honest, it's been over 20 years and nobody has ever written a letter to me in blood. There were a couple of letters which claimed they had been written in blood but I think it's red nail polish.
Home alone
One instance that was one of the first, really revolved around a little boy. This happened before we moved to Mannat. We were staying on the seventh floor of a building in Bandra.
A 10-year-old boy climbed the drainpipe and climbed on my terrace at five in the morning. I saw him huddled there and asked Gauri that if we had someone working the house whose son was sitting on the terrace and she said, 'no'.
Then we learned that he'd run away from his house in Gujarat and came to Mumbai just to see me. We called his parents and sent him back.
This happened before I had kids. But I still wonder what made him act the way he did. I can't imagine my 10-11 year son leaving his house to Michael Jackson's (to me, he is the ultimate star.) house Neverland and jumping the big gate to see him.
Into their homes
One incident that I remember, happened in Malaysia, when I was shooting for One Two Ka Four. Generally, I don't sleep on sets but I was tired that day, and I had some time off, so I went into this small little wooden house that the production people told me I could use, and dozed off in a chair.
When I got up after an hour or so, I saw 50-odd people crammed inside that little house just watching me sleep. I was very embarrassed and didn't know what to say.
They were laughing and giggling and then they got me a cup of tea and they took to one of their rooms above and showed me the place where they put up their idols.
They'd put up a picture of me there. I had actually gone and slept in someone's house who in a certain sense worshiped me not like a God but they did. I was very shocked.
I try to think how I would react if I walked into my home one day and found Michael Jackson sleeping there. Star meet star
I have had the opportunity to meet international celebrities like Madonna and Michael Jackson but have never felt like they have in any way or form, changed my life.
Off course, I have a long way to go before I reach the stature of these celebrities but I am trying. I've always wanted to understand the minds of people who dedicate their lives to someone they have never even met. How do they allow another person a celebrity to impact their lives in such a big way. I like to believe self-centredly that maybe these fans know something we don't know.
Maybe they know a good thing when they see one. Maybe I am someone special because if I really think about it, what other reason there could be for me being such a big star? If you are blessed and people can see that, it's not my doing.
Pooja Bhatt once said, 'good looks have nothing to do with me, only genes.' So when you are blessed than its got nothing to do with your talent or hard-work, or who you are. My only job is to make people smile.
Strangely, from being a materialist-moviestar-wanting to buy a huge house and a good life and get an Oscar, it reaches a level where perhaps all this doesn't matter.
It just matters that people wrongly assume that you are more special than you truly are! And you try not to let them down.
Idol talk
I met this senior reporter in Darjeeling when I had gone for the shooting of Main Hoon Na. She showed me a photograph that she'd taken with me when she was a teenager (probably 12 or 13 years old).
I was trying to think when I met his girl, that's when she told me this was years back when I was shooting for Raju Ban Gaya Gentleman.
At the time, she wanted to meet me, but the only people who got to meet the cast and crew were journalists, so she decided to become one when she grew up.
Maybe she would've become a journalist even otherwise, but that was her reason. It's amazing how someone can make a career choice because of you, and you don't even know it.

Here's what your fave star thinks about love

Shahrukh Khan
“If I film my own love story my wife will leave me. It's not a great love story. But even though it might be an ordinary love story it seems extraordinary to us. I'd like to relate this to my film Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi. So no, I do not think I will make a film on my love story. As even if I did, I don't think Gauri would act in it. She thinks I am not a good enough actor”
“I have gifted my entire life to Gauri. She produces all my movies and only if the film does well, she accepts any gifts. If my movie flops, then she does not accept any gift.

SRK to wed again?

somehow manages to instantly hit it off with the public. At a press conference in Delhi recently, he had everyone in splits with his

Shahrukh Khan.More Picswitty repartees. In the middle of a Q&A session, a woman from the crowd shouted, “Shah Rukh, I love you!” While everyone turned around to see where the voice had come from, SRK quickly said, “I love you too, darling. Don’t worry, we will get married as soon as I am done with this press conference. Please wait for me.” A few minutes later, after the laughter had subsided, when someone asked him about his fetish for wearing black and white for almost all his public appearances, SRK was at it again and said, “You see, I am a black and white person. I like this colour combination. And every time I have to go out, this is the combo that I think of.” Oh! so what happened to the ‘Yellow Yellow, dirty fellow’ line of Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi?

SRK slams Slumdog critics

Shahrukh Khan feels there’s no reason for people to become cynical if a film made on Indian uniqueness has made a mark in the world.

Shahrukh KhanMore PicsIt will open doors for people to understand that there is a lot of visual appeal to India. I hear a lot of people saying that India has been shown in bad light in Slumdog Millionaire. But then my logic to everyone is that why is it that somebody comes from outside and makes a film like Gandhi and Slumdog. All we can say about it is that it is showing India in a poor light,” said Khan. Many critics including Amitabh Bachchan had said that that the film’s a hard-hitting but exuberant tale of life in a Mumbai slum and is being lauded because it has a Westerner at the helm. SRK also took the opportunity to slam the self-styled “moral policing” elements who object to Valentine’s Day. “We should see Valentine’s as a day of friendship and love and not as a western culture attack. I would say all youngsters should give roses to all the people they love in a good way,” said Khan.
