Asin in an argument with hair stylist

Asin fires in dressing room

Charming lady asin created a big impact here in South before she headed to Bollywood. Now, she is gossiped to have got into a big argument with her hair stylist recently. The ‘Ghajini’ girl has very fine hair. So, she is always finicky about how her styles look on a film set or at a public event.

An eye-witness who saw the actress firing her stylist says, no matter what the hair dresser was doing asin isn’t liking it. She put in the usual extensions but actress still felt there was something missing. When asin’s hair was fixed for the fourth time, she began yelling at stylist who silently continued with job while grumbling and fuming continued.

A source adds that situation was so tense in dressing room that hair stylist even contemplated quitting. However, at one point she snapped back and asin said she was being deliberately sabotaged by someone who wanted her to look ugly and she stormed out of the make up room.

Asin makes her place in Bollywood movies

As the movie ‘Ghajini’ was a complete hit some bollywood insiders are reporting that the famous director Ashutosh Gowariker has finally chosen in the newcomer Asin to play the lead role opposite with none other than Abhishek Bachchan in his next hit ‘Khelein Hum Jee Jaan Sey’.
Ashutosh reportedly called Asin at his house office where he expressed his desire to cast her for this period drama. Asin was so delighted that she nodded her head without knowing about the whole thing. She told that she was his fan after seeing his previous films and was hoping to work with him some day.
Everybody is wondering that why isn’t beautiful Aishwarya who was supposed to work in this film at the first place. This has anything to do with motherhood or what some of the bollywood reporters questioned.

Asin Scared of Photoshoots!

Asin is a very well known actress in Tollywood and she has become quite popular up in Bollywood thanks to her debut vehicle Ghajini opposite the Perfectionist Khan - Aamir Khan.
Aamir, who is known for experimenting with different looks for each of his film is said to have worked to improve Asin’s look in the film too. Asin claims to be really scared of Photoshoots. Wonder why because she looks absolutely stunning in all her photoshoots.
Nevertheless, Aamir the perfectionist decided to arrange Asin a very good make-up man, hair stylist and asked his favorite photographer to take her pictures for Ghajini’s posters.
Looks like Aamir has really put his heart and soul in the movie… he seems to be so particular about every minute detail. Even Asin’s look in the posters.

Asin wants to be a boy

Only in a film that is. The actor feels it's exciting to play a male.
Asin
With the release of your first film, you are everywhere with nominations both in the best debutante and best actor category. How does it feel to be part of such a dream debut?
I have been lucky. A film like Ghajini is definitely a dream debut in Bollywood. I would be lying if I utter that I am not overwhelmed with the response of my first film in Mumbai. It's been great to sail through all the adulations and I am thoroughly enjoying it.
The media is already naming you as the next big thing.
Do you think they have been especially kind to you?
It's nice to know when people have such expectations from you. I am thankful to the media for rating me highly. But I guess I have lots more to do and have a long way to go. I have just taken baby steps in the industry and just hoping that my decision would be fruitful for me in the right way.
You are an established actor in the south but everybody terms you as a newcomer in Bollywood. What do you have to say about that?
That's not something unfair. I am happy that people over here are welcome to changes and they have accepted me. I don't have any qualms being called a newcomer considering that I have done only one film in Hindi. The audience has given me a warm welcome and I have no complaints.
Why do we always see you moving around with your father?
My father is my support system. I feel at home when he is with me and insecurity never creeps in.
Tell us something about your character in your next film London Dreams, in which you are paired opposite Salman Khan and Ajay Devgan. I am not allowed to talk about the film before the release date comes closer. But one thing I can say is that my character Priya is completely different from what I have done in Ghajini. And it's been great fun shooting for the movie.
Do you have any dream role as an actor?
I don't have any celluloid characters as my super-favourite. But I would love to play a boy. It would be something very different and exciting.

The Gown Take-over

The sari is nearly extinct. The women of tinseltown, the Filmfare Awards prove, have taken to the gown, while the men are still in suits

Asin is dressed like she knew she was going to win an award and wanted to make her look a lasting memory. The deep violet is an unexpected colour and the centre seam gives way to a beautiful, flowing panel. She keeps the face and make-up simple and wins all awards in the ensemble section.

Asin wants to play meaty roles

With her debut Hindi film Ghajini already having catapulted her to star status, her forthcoming London Dreams with Salman Khan is expected to follow up the success in a big way. Neckdeep with shooting schedules, Asin manages time for us too...

How has life been post Ghajini?
Not very different. It’s just that more people recognise and appreciate me now.
According to you, who’s a better actor – Aamir or Salman?
Not fair! (laughs) How can you expect me to choose between the two? Both are legends in their own right and both are good friends of mine. They are poles apart, but yes, Salman is more spontaneous whereas Aamir takes his own time as he thinks a lot.
Whose physique do you like better?
Salman has always had a great body. But seeing Aamir put in such hard work for the body he made for Ghajini, I would give him extra points for that.
A lot is believed to be transpiring between Salman and you...
That’s rubbish. Salman is a good friend and it felt really good when he especially invited me to unveil his paintings. And no, he didn’t send me any cake on my birthday like it’s being speculated.
What about the Eiffel Tower scene he got incorporated for you in LD because you always desired that your dream lover propose to you there?
Oh, the proposal scene in front of the Eiffel Tower was director Vipul Shah’s idea. He got that scene incorporated because it was a part of the story and Paris being a romantic city, it was thought that the scene would look good there. What about the alleged catfight with Jiah?
Jiah has never had any problem with me and both of us are very cordial. I get along quite well with her family also. Anyway, all these rumours have been put to rest now after we were spotted together at various functions.
What kind of roles are you looking forward to?
I am looking forward to playing meaty roles like the one that I had in Ghajini. But I don’t want to be typecast in any image either. I want rightfully fulfil the aspirations that audiences have from me.
Are you single?
Very much so! The only man in my life currently is my dad, who handles my career. (Laughs) Besides, I have never had a boyfriend. And whenever I say that, I seem to have committed a crime as everybody steps back astonished ‘How’s that possible when you are so good looking?’ (laughs some more).

Contract killer Asin

Asin refused to sign a contract for London Dreams, which dictated her interaction with the media

Though Tamil actress Asin is just one film old in Bollywood, she has learnt not to bow down to Bollywood ways. Learning from her Ghajini experience, wherein her interaction with the media was curbed, Asin has refused to sign a contract for London Dreams which governed her media interactions. A source from the industry said, “Asin was irked with Aamir Khan and the production house for having restricted her from interacting with the media during the making of Ghajini, which took almost two years. Ghajini took longer than usual to get made because of a number of reasons — one of them being Aamir’s injury. Though a contract bound Asin kept mum about being told not to interact with the media, she was not happy about it. At one point she even raised the issue of being more accessible to the media, but to no effect. But she’s turned wiser now. When Vipul Shah, producer of London Dreams asked Asin to sign a contract stating a similar clause, she put her foot down. She turned down the gag contract saying that she wants to be vocal on her accord and does not want to feel caged anymore.” Considering that Asin is an established actress down south and was making her splash in Bollywood to expand her spectrum of work; restricting her interaction with the media was suffocating her.Asin’s father, Joseph Thottumkal said, “Asin will never enter into any contract with any production as far as media dealings are concerned. Talking or not talking to the media is Asin’s call. And she feels that she definitely needs to connect with her fans through the media.”Vipul Shah, director and producer of London Dreams said, “Asin is a very important part of London Dreams. She did express concern, regarding the freedom of speech as far as media protocol goes and I agreed to it. She has been receiving a lot of appreciation for Ghajini and I agree with her when she says that she must connect with her fans by being more visible in the media.”
