Slumdog Millionaire has put India on the global map winning as many as 8 Oscars. Though not an Indian film, since it’s produced by a Hollywood studio, the entire film has been shot in India with an almost Indian cast. That makes India proud of the fact that the country has a lot to reach global frontiers. Slumdog, however, is not India’s first tryst with the Oscars. Many films and film personalities have made it to the Oscar list. All of these films have not necessarily been Indian films with some having an Indian setting and cast like Slumdog. We list down India’s connection with the Academy Awards.
