He's played a Mumbai tapori and a business magnet with equal elan, and now Salman Khan is playing a prince, ala Russell Crowe in Gladiator.
Salman makes a grand entry to the setHe’s controvesy’s favourite child but there are reasons why the audience loves him so much. Unlike other Bollywood stars, who generally tend to get perturbed by too much attention from their fans, Salman, who is in Jaipur, seemed to love the presence of thousands of his fans, who had swarmed almost every nook and corner of the Jaleb Chauk at Amber Fort, to catch a glimpse of Sallu Bhai. Salman is currently shooting at the fort for his forthcoming period flick Veer. Day one of the shoot took off with a swayamvar sequence, and the set that has been put up at Amber looked so spectacular, that it transported everyone present there to an era in the past. With the crowd at the scene dressed in outfits of yore, with men dressed as royal guards protecting every entrance, the atmosphere was set for the entry of the prince in shining armour. And sure enough, Salman, dressed like a gladiator riding a huge stallion, made entry into the sets. Jackie Shroff, dressed as a king, was part of the sequence too. Shot taken and okayed, Salman jumped around like a little boy who had just passed an exam. Earlier in the day, when we reached the sets at 11 am, Jackie Shroff was ready with his make up and had his costume on. By then, thousands of fans had gathered, and Jaggu dada was so amazed by this huge turnout of cine buffs, that he began taking pictures of the crowd on his mobile camera. Salman arrived at 3 pm dressed casually in capris and a tee - a look that was completely different from the one that he would sport just an hour later. He waved out to the waiting fans, sent out flying kisses and in characteristic Salman style moved around bindaas checking out the location he was about to shoot in.
